Meet Hillary

Hillary L. Bownik, MD is a native of Kansas City. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Notre Dame graduating summa cum laude in 2002. She then obtained her medical degree in Washington D.C, where she graduated with distinction from George Washington University in 2007. She completed her internship and residency at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center in 2010. She completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology at Northwestern University in Chicago in 2014, where she was made chief fellow. Dr. Bownik completed an additional fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the University of Pennsylvania (PENN) Perelman School of Medicine and was an Instructor of Medicine there until 2015.

Dr Bownik has published multiple articles and abstracts, made presentations at local and national conferences, and serves as the Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials within the field of Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  While caring for a variety of digestive disease, her areas of clinical interest include colon cancer screening, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and female gut health. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (CCFA), the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA), and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

Hillary enjoys reading, playing tennis, watching football, and spending time with her family.
